Biography Amosova Ivan Afanasyvitch

Amosov Ivan Afanasievich (11/12/1800 – 06/01/1878), Russian naval engineer-general (1872). During the period 1832-1860 has built a large number of different ships, including: 74-gun ship "Fershampenuaz", "Constantine" and "Vyborg"; frigates – 56-gun Aurora, 54-gun "Proserpine". In 1846-1848 in St. Petersburg at the Okhtenskoye Admiralty Shipyards Amosov built the first Russian screw frigate "Archimedes" with a steam engine of 300 hp. pp. (220 kW) and two-blade propeller. While in 1860-1873 the inspector shipbuilding works Kronstadt port, Amos played a great role in strengthening the combat readiness of the Baltic fleet, improve seaworthiness, armament and strength of ships. Many of the ships were built Amosov most perfect examples of the shipbuilding technology of the time.
